Keep Calm and Give a Great Wedding Speech!

Public speaking is an important part of any wedding – particularly if you’re the groom! But for some grooms, this can be a source of discomfort and worry. On your wedding day, you don’t want to be worried about all eyes being on you, so how can you get over the stage fright and enjoy your big day?

Preparation

One of the most important things is to know your speech back to front. You should practice in front of the mirror or with your best man so you can help each other feel prepared!

Make sure to write up some easy-to-read notes to refer back to. You don’t have to write your speech out word-for-word, but having some key points written down will make your delivery a lot smoother.

Relax

Remember to relax! You don’t want to run through your speech at the speed of light. This is your opportunity to tell your family and friends just how much you love your new bride, so take a deep breath!

If you find it nerve-wracking having so many eyes on you, try directing your speech directly to your bride. Looking her in the eyes will be a lot less scary than looking out at all your new in-laws!

Pro Tip: laughing before giving a big speech can do wonders for calming nerves, so recruit your best man to tell you a joke before you stand up!

Use What You Can!

Why not consider making a presentation with photos of you and your new bride. You could pick photos of you as children as well as photos from when you first met. Perhaps you could even make a video. This will mean you have a lot less talking to do, and your guests and bride are sure to love the personal touch!
